Ever since I landed in Australia in 2002, I’ve been absolutely fascinated by the word “billabong“.
There’s something magical about it, yeah? These natural waterholes that appear, shrink, and shift course depending on the rainfall, almost a perfect metaphor for what our technical communication profession looks like these days. One minute you’re cruising along, the next everything’s changed direction.
But here’s what really got me: billabongs are natural gathering places for the community. They’re where everyone comes together for refreshment, sustenance, and essential resources. I’ll never forget the first time I saw a proper billabong deep in Kakadu National Park, absolutely stunning experience that stuck with me.
Who am I?
My name is Swapnil Ogale, and I am a career technical communicator based in Melbourne, Australia. When I am not working as a Technical Writer at [Big Tech], I am often up and around travelling, reading books, connecting with community, organising conferences, or ferrying my teenage son to sports.
